Benefits of Eating Local Seasonal Produce

  • Gratitude towards the seasons
We are fortunate to live in a state where we are able to experience each season, and the beautiful nurturing foods that come along with each of them.
Eating in season allows us to embrace and look forward to the transitions in the weather, events, and local food availability.
  • Less of a carbon footprint
When food is grown out of your state or even country, it's either grown in a hothouse or shipped in from other parts of the world. Eating local means you are supporting small and midsize local farmers.  This helps with cutting down on pollution from shipping and trucking food, and it reduces our carbon footprint.
  • Variety in nutrients
There is a wide array of unique crops that are harvested with each season.  Each individual food provides different vitamins and minerals to fuel your body.
  • The flavor is at it's peak
Produce that has been allowed to fully ripen in the sun tastes amazing. Freshly picked produce has optimal flavor and is crispy, fragrant, juicy and colorful.
  • Optimal antioxidants
Plants get their nourishment from the sun and soil. Seasonally fresh produce is picked when it's ripe and fully developed to it's peak. The plant has had more sun exposure, which means it will have higher levels of antioxidants and assist in your health even more.
